Who can join the Association?

Membership is open to all individuals of Akwa Ibom or Cross River State origin by birth, marriage, or ancestry, as well as friends who share our values and wish to support our mission. Members must reside in Toronto or surrounding areas and commit to upholding the Association’s constitution and values.

How much does it cost to become a member?

One-Time Registration Fee:

  • Family: C$100

  • Individual: C$50

  • Youth (under 18): C$25

Monthly Dues:

  • Adults: C$10/month or C$100/year

  • Youth (under 18): C$5/month or C$60/year

All payments can be made via Interac e-Transfer to akwacross01@gmail.com.

What are the benefits of membership?

Members enjoy access to cultural, social, and networking events; welfare assistance during times of need; leadership and volunteering opportunities; professional networking and mentorship programs; discounts or free entry to certain events; and voting rights in Association matters (for adult members).

How does the Association support new immigrants?

We provide newcomer support through settlement guidance, housing and employment information, cultural adaptation assistance, and a warm network of community members ready to help you adjust to life in Canada.

How can I stay updated on events and announcements?

Members are added to our private WhatsApp group and receive updates via email. We also share news, photos, and event information on our official website, on Facebook and Instagram pages.
